Introduction and Practice Profile

Jason began his legal career at the Hong Kong Bar and was later admitted to the New York Bar before joining Yodoyabashi & Yamagami LPC as foreign counsel.

His practice focuses on international commercial arbitration, cross-border litigation, and other international disputes, including matters involving Hong Kong, Greater China, the United States, and Japan. He also advises clients on legal risks arising from overseas business operations, including international transactions, corporate governance, corporate misconduct and compliance, internal investigations, crisis management, and overseas subsidiary management. His advisory work also includes corporate governance and related corporate law issues from Hong Kong and U.S. law perspectives.

Jason is also regularly instructed to provide legal opinions on Hong Kong law, New York law and general common law issues. In addition to advising Japanese clients and counsel, he prepares expert opinions and legal memoranda for use in court and arbitral proceedings in Japan and other jurisdictions. He also advises, where appropriate, on selected cross-border private client matters, including wills and succession issues.

Jason is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and serves as a part-time lecturer at Doshisha University in Kyoto, where he teaches international law, international organizations, and international human rights law. In addition to his practice and as an active academic writer, he continues to explore the intersection of diplomacy and public international law.

Jason maintains an active practice in Tokyo and Osaka from Yodoyabashi & Yamagami LPC, and in Hong Kong from Albert Luk’s Chambers.
